ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ARTIST
Don Maitz has produced art that has given new life to the Golden Age of Piracy. Referring to him as a “rum artist” is an accurate compliment not a disparaging statement as he created the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum character featured on product labels, magazines, and billboards. Since its introduction into the marketplace 20 years ago by Seagrams Corporation, Don has been commissioned on six occasions and has produced 14 paintings of the rum character in the red suit.
